2010The Recycled Revival took a breather from 2010 to 2013 to focus on a project with the New Mexico Recycling Coalition. The Rural Recycling Technical Assistance Project began with a small USDA grant to develop the Rural Recycling Resource Kit to assist rural recycling program managers with refining and developing diversion programs. This grant also supported my work to map all solid waste facilities in New Mexico using GIS software. The mapping effort exposed numerous areas of New Mexico without access to recycling services.
In 2011, NMRC received a $2.8 million grant award from the USDOE Stimulus Grant Funds. This grant was designed to correct the deficiencies in recycling access in New Mexico and funded the development and expansion 8 recycling facilities in rural New Mexico. Justin Stockdale led the design, construction, equipment procurement and start-up of all eight facilities.
